Ledaig 18 Year Old

Ledaig 18, pronounced as “la-chaik,” which translates to “safe haven” in Gaelic, is a whisky that has long been cherished by connoisseurs for its affordability and quality. However, the 18-year-old variant adds an extra layer of refinement to its solid foundation, justifying its higher price tag.

This exceptional whisky was honored as the 2023 Whisky of the Year by The Whisky Exchange, among others. The maturation process of Ledaig 18 is quite unique. It is first aged in ex-bourbon barrels for 16 years before spending its final two years in sherry casks. This results in an exceptionally well-balanced, richly sweet, smoky, and fruity whisky.

The nose opens with sweet smoke, reminiscent of an applewood barbecue, balanced with briny sea spray, oak, dried seaweed, mint, and chipotle pepper. On the palate, you’ll find flavors of honeysuckle, herbal and earthy campfire smoke, fresh-cut grass, pepper, vanilla, coffee, orange and lemon zest, and tobacco, culminating in a long smoky finish.
